About

"Matu is one of the best space holders I know. Over the years I have felt safe enough to explore some deep childhood trauma, rage and hatred through her meditations and ceremonies. I would recommend her work very highly."

Matu

Matu (1990) is trained in several healing modalities and has experience supporting and/or guiding over 150 ceremonies. In a world so primarily focussed on the external, she found a deep calling in assiting people on the journey inwards.

Her given birth name, Matu, has many meanings and she has come to feel increasingly connected and rooted in this name over time. 'Opens doors', 'portal', 'womb', 'fertile darkness', and  '(the great) mother' being just a few of them. Big shoes to fill, but also the most simple and life affirming/life giving meanings possible. She has lovingly been called Mamatu over the years by various people ranging from friends to clients and even those she had just met. It makes sense, now she became a mother herself that her offerings find their way into the world under this name.

Her vision and prayer for this work of service is to hold you with the love of the Great Mother, guiding you through the darkness you might be experiencing within yourself. Matu is not here to solve your issues for you, or provide a quick fix, but she will hold space for you as you find your way back to the warmth of your own heart. Her path here is to humbly guide you with the tools she has obtained through her trainings and own lived experience and to assist you in your time of transition and your homecoming.

May I be all the things
I was born to be
and may it all come to life
as blessings of worthiness,
transformation
and expansion for all beings.

"I wish my words can convey how thankful I am for meeting you and the frog.
To go to Matu feels like coming home. She has a deep knowledge, respect and love for this medicine. She offers a very necessary safe container for healing to occur on many levels. My life has changed on many levels since doing Kambo with Matu. My health and energy improved tremendously. Kambo cleared a lot of the emotional blockages that kept me prisoner for years. I am able to play again!"

Experience

Matu was educated as a dramaturg in the field of theater. However, through her own personal process of falling sick and getting burnt out she realised a change was needed. While travelling the world she found her journey led to deep inner exploration. Over the years she's walked many different routes, always commited to inner growth and discovery, trying to cultivate a sense of curiosity in all she encounters. In doing so slowly gaining the tools and experience to help others navigate their inner journey.

Her studies have Indian roots in Ashtanga Yoga, under the guidance of Kamal Singh, and Abhyanga Ayurvedic Massage, with doctor Arun Sharma. Plant medicine came into her life and opened a path of Andean tradition as well as studies within the lineage of the Shipibo tribe of Peru and the Yawanawa tribe of Brazil. The plants opened unknown doors, leading her to the core of her being and soon called her to deepen the work by supporting ceremonies. She dove in without question, which meant doing a lot of her own inner work and getting to know and navigate these spaces of altered states of consciousness very well.
Her studies continue on a daily basis, cultivating relationship with plants, learning how to listen and receive their teachings.

She studied Reiki under the guidance of Reiki Master Justine van Wassenaer and has been working with different ways of energetic work since. The healing power of sound and music entered her life in ceremony and slowly made it's way into the development of a finely attuned and own way of working combining her experiences with sound, touch and energetics. She thoroughly enjoys singing and is looking forward to birth an album in the future.

In 2022 she deepened her studies in spaceholding by training with Atira Tan, trauma expert and head of integration at Aya Healing Retreats. Becoming a Trauma informed Plant Medicine Facilitator brought  more clarity on how to help clients navigate challenging experiences should those arise in a circle or ceremony.

She trained with the International Association of Kambô Practioners, under the guidance of master practitioner Alan Schechner. She has since been working as a Kambô Practitioners  serving this medicine of deep cleansing and the wisdom teachings of the frog.

Reverence and humbleness in this work is crucial to Matu. To truly acknowledge the powerful plant and animal allies we are working with and to not take working with them lightly. In her work you will find that integrity is of the highest importance and she takes great care in assessing wether or not it is in alignement to assist you into this deep work. A devoted commitment to not just speak, but to fully embody and live truth & love lies at the heart of her life and work.

She feels deeply grateful and humbled each time she gets to witness the incredibly vulnerable, raw, wide open and transformative processes her clients move through. Each time knowing deeper how much it matters, holding each other through these times.

"May our rebirthing happen in an attuned and loving environment so that we feel safe enough to keep choosing love over and over and over again."

This is her prayer, her mission and vision for herself, her work and the world around her. A trust so deep, a love so strong and a unity that is simply unbreakable. Matu looks forward to be here for you if you desire support in walking this path.

Testimonials

Read how others have experienced working with me over the years.

Dankjewel, dankjewel, dankjewel.

The positive changes that have occurred from attending Matu's sister circle sessions go beyond the quantifiable and the tangible, Beyond what you can tag as ‘good’ voice practice. The sessions teach you to take things as they are; acceptance. From there, what was your stifled (or hidden) voice flows and goes beyond where you thought your voice, body and mind could go.

I have become more accepting of and better able to manage emotions that I avoid like fear and anger. I find myself with the courage to stand up for myself, to take up space, and to try new things. As I can now locate my emotions in my body, conscious assertiveness gets easier each day as I become more comfortable with the energy in my body and around it.
I have learnt so much about myself, my voice, and my strength in these sessions, and I look forward to them every week!
